BEFORE YOU START

Common questions.

Which cable category should we use?

Choose around link distance, target speed, interference, PoE requirements and installation conditions. Cat6A is a common option to evaluate for new high-performance copper runs; the highest category number is not automatically the right choice.

Can you work with existing cabling?

The starting point can be an assessment of installed Cat5/Cat5e, Cat6 or other infrastructure. Replacement decisions should follow condition, test results and application requirements.

What does Cat7-class mean here?

It refers to specialty shielded cabling systems. It is not presented as the standard progression for U.S. commercial cabling. Materials and connectors need to match the selected application.
